The Rhino wombat is the largest marsupial which ever has lived. He resembles in many aspects the still living wombats.
Wombat-like and characteristic are the inwards turned feet, strong claws on the front feet and his pouch opening faced backwards.
They fed on leaves, twigs, bark and roots of the saltwort (Salsola) and other amaranths and scarfed down as much as 150 kg of vegetation per day.
Since Rhino wombat became together with other large marsupials extinct 26.000 years ago, many bones and skeletons were found. But he was never kept in a zoo. Therefore our Lost Zoo is proud to keep for the first time this gigantic ancestor of the wombats.
